In Support of Increased Funding for
Milwaukee County Senior Centers

We fought to have the $200,000 cut to senior Centers in Chris Abeles’ budget restored. The County Board restored the money but held it in contingency. Now the Department on Aging is recommending that the Board only release the County Executive’s recommended amount. We need to fight for the full restoration of the $200,000!! Interfaith has had to lay off 8 people. One Director is running both Wilson Park and
Kelley Senior Center. There is only one staff at McGovern park! Programs and people are going to suffer a slow painful death.

Please join us to tell the Board we need the Senior Centers fully staffed and fully maintained!! We need to grow opportunities not curtail them.

Finance and Audit Committee Meeting

Please join us to add your voice!

What would you do to protect your grandchildren?

We would do anything to make sure our grandchildren are safe. We would risk life and limb to keep them from injury or death.  Yet, year after year, children are killed in their school rooms with weapons of war that are available to almost anyone, including angry, emotionally disturbed people with a history of violence.  If we are committed to keeping our grandchildren safe, we need to be involved in the fight to reform guns laws in our state and country. High school students around the USA are organizing public events in the coming weeks to push state and federal legislators away from NRA money and toward commonsense gun laws.

MARCH 14 – HIGH SCHOOL WALKOUT

High School students in schools throughout the greater Milwaukee area are walking out of school for 17 minutes to honor the 17 students killed in Florida. The walkout will take place at 10:00am.

If you can go to one of the schools at 9:45 and set up as senior citizens in support of the student actions, it will be important to the students. Our actions show legislators that there is widespread support for gun law reform on the part of senior citizens, the largest voting block in elections.

Bring a sign and stand up for our grandchildren who are opposed by the NRA who use money instead of bullets to place people in harm’s way.

IT’S TIME TO STOP THE SENSELESS DAMAGE TO OUR YOUNG PEOPLE.
THEY DESERVE SAFE SCHOOLS AND STREETS !!

MARCH 24 – MARCH FOR OUR LIVES

As part of a nation-wide protest against gun violence, Milwaukee young people and their supporters will meet at 10 am on Saturday, March 24 at the County Courthouse (901 N 9th St, Milwaukee.) The March For Our Lives will go from the County Courthouse to City Hall.  This is an opportunity for people from throughout the Milwaukee area to act together against federal and state laws that do not protect Americans from the ongoing threat of injury and death due to easy access to guns, assault rifles and mechanisms that make guns even more dangerous.
